2017 Québec's Family Associations Fair

For the first time in more than a decade, the Family Associations / Family Heritage Fair will not be held this year in the Quebec City area.

The major cuts imposed by the Government of Quebec affect several organizations, including the Quebec Federation of Family Associations (FAFQ). The operating budget has been amputated with this large cut in the annual government subsidy, which forces the FAFQ to review its operations and curtail its expenses. Like a hundred other family associations, ADNAL is a member of the Federation and its survival is important to us.

Here is the message that Claude Trudel, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the FAFQ, sent us a few days ago (Webmaster translation from French) :

"Since the fall of 2016, the Federation's Board of Directors has been managing a crisis situation as a result of what we now know as the reform of assistance programs for community organizations and other such programs by the Government of the Province of Québec. As you now know, we have had to make drastic decisions to keep the FAFQ alive.

The board of directors, while managing this situation, is working to revitalize its activities while respecting the aims and mission of the federation. It is in this context that we will propose one of the scenarios, and this, before the general assembly that we wish to hold in March (March 18 or 25).

The financial situation is resolving itself following the arrangements made by the Board of Directors. We are confident that our activities will continue smoothly and steadily as early as spring time. "
