The ancestral land of the Audet-Lapointes on Île d'Orléans from 1667 to 2019

Now available in English.

In this new publication, which was officially launched during the ADNAL's annual gathering on August 24, 2019 in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, QC, the author, Guy Saint-Hilaire, reviews the history to the present day of the land that the ancestor Nicolas was granted on Île d'Orléans in 1667, which four consecutive generations of Audet-Lapointe inhabited, and which has changed a lot over the past 350 years. It shows what precise locations this land corresponds to today, explains how its dismemberment occurred in the middle of the 18th century, and identifies all the owners who have succeeded one another until now on its different components, by describing how they have acquired and insinuated the intentions that many of them had when they obtained them. Those interested in knowing what remains of the contribution of their ancestor Nicolas will perhaps find some answers.

L’île d’Orléans, berceau des Audet-Lapointe (Île d'Orléans, cradle of the Audet-Lapointe)

Do you want to know more about the first Audet-Lapointe of America who initially settled on the Île d'Orleans, in Québec ? In this new 790-page book, the author has endeavored to trace, in the five parishes of Île d'Orléans at the time, all the documents of birth/baptism, marriage and death/burial concerning the Audet-Lapointe, from the establishment of the ancestor in this place in 1667, until 1850, when the dispersion of his descendants increased across America. He found 764 of them, which he photographically reproduced, and for which he provides a literal transcription, complemented with brief details about the person concerned by each document.  The reader will find, for these many family events, authentic information that is not always easily accessible to the uninitiated in this field.

This publication is available, in French only, for purchase by phone at 418-841-2648 or by e-mail at  info@audetditlapointe.caat a cost of $48 plus shipping, if applicable.

 Les Audet-Lapointe repérés à l'île d'Orléans de 1851 à l'époque récente
(The Audet-Lapointes found on Île d'Orléans from 1851 to recent times)

Our previous book, entitled “L'île d'Orléans, berceau des Audet-Lapointe (Île d'Orléans, cradle of the Audet-Lapointe)" already presented in a very detailed manner, for the period from 1666 to 1850, all the baptism, marriage and burial certificates concerning the Audet and the Lapointes of the place. As a sequel, this 52-page brochure gives, in a simpler format, the indexing for the period from 1851 to 1941, with mention of the parents of the people concerned, of all the baptisms, marriages and burials of Audet and Lapointe occurred on the same island. At the end, there is also a listing by family of all the subjects of the act. This report, which covers 684 documents, even goes to the early 2000s with regard to marriages and burials which are in the public domain.

In this 156-page publication entirely dedicated to the Audet-Lapointe family, which is somewhat of a continuation of his previous writings, the author brings together more than thirty articles that he has already published on them in various media over the past twelve years. In each of them, he develops certain aspects of the lives of the ancestors or some of their descendants, showing their behavior in certain circumstances and the accomplishments of some of them. In short, this book contains several themes likely to capture the attention of those interested in the Audet-Lapointe family.
